Shady Bowl Speedway hosted its second night of racing action this season on Saturday and saw a local driver come away with a feature win.
Quincy’s Josh Smith took the 25-lap street stock feature after holding off 12 other drivers. He was also the fast qualifier.
Buck Purtee grabbed the runner-up spot, Rodney Roush was third, Chris Parker placed fourth and Jeremy Wiggins finished in fifth. Rodney Roush claimed the dash and one of the heats, while Rob Schaeff won the other heat.
Winning the late model 35-lap feature was Ryan Fleming, with Jim Lewis Jr. claiming the second-place spot. Josh Smith, Don Mahaffey Jr. and Matt Parsons rounded out the top five. Smith was the dash winner, Doug King and Caleb Reschar won heats and Mahaffey was the fast qualifier.
The 30-lap compact feature went to Mike Wintrow, while Jimmy McElfresh claimed the runner-up spot. Alec Young came in third, Josh Foltz finished fourth and Zach Doolin took fifth. McElfresh was the fast qualifier and Young was the dash winner.
Patrick Woods outlasted the field to win the 20-lap Thunder Cars feature. Brad Blue, Scottie Marquis, Hunter Hicks and Justin Kemp rounded out the top five. Steve Fowler was the fast qualifier and Blue was the dash winner.
Racing returns to Shady Bowl on Saturday with four feature races. The highlight will be the 72-lap Bobby Korn Memorial late model race. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
