PRATHER |
A city man who has been a persistent source of trouble for city law enforcement in recent weeks admitted a drug trafficking crime Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
John Prather, 54, entered the guilty plea to the fifth-degree felony drug charge that stems from an undercover operation conducted by the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force on July 16.
More recently, Mr. Prather, who told visiting Judge Roger Wilson that he has spent about 14 years of his life in prison, has been charged with a variety of misdemeanor crimes.
The Logan County Prosecutor’s Office said they would see that the outstanding local misdemeanor charges are dismissed in exchange for the felony plea.
Judge Wilson ordered a presentence report but agreed to release Mr. Prather on a one-week furlough to have an eye procedure done. The defendant said he would move out of his 213 W. Brown Ave. residence and would reside with his grandparents at 221 Walker St. and he is subject to a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.
He could face up to a year in prison when he returns for sentencing March 7.
