Riverside’s softball team took the momentum early against visiting Jackson Center Tuesday and rolled to a 16-5 win in five innings during a non-league game.
The Pirates run their record to 9-10 on the season.
Riverside got its bats going early and jumped out to a 9-1 lead after just three innings.
Jackson Center scored a run in the top of the fourth inning, but the Pirates poured in seven runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 16-2 cushion. The Tigers plated three runs in the fifth inning to round out the scoring.
Riverside’s offense piled up 11 hits at the plate. Alaina Snow led the charge, going 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Kaitlyn Schlumbohm went 3-3 with three RBI, Jade Copas hit a double with four RBI, Jenna Woods hit a double, Amerra Huston and Kylee Angle both had two RBI, while Sierra Snow and Anastasia Gonzalez each had one RBI.
Woods earned the win in the pitching circle with six strikeouts and scattered four hits.
Riverside travels to Botkins on Thursday for more non-league play.

Raiders fall to Wildcats
Benjamin Logan’s softball team saw host North Union rally late for an 11-4 in Tuesday in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.
The Raiders drop to 14-7 overall and 6-6 in the CBC Mad River. The Wildcats, which are ranked fifth in the Division III state poll, improve to 15-5, 8-3.
Ben Logan built a 4-2 lead after the third inning, but North Union came storming back to take over the game. The Wildcats piled up five runs in the fifth inning and four more runs in the sixth inning to jump in front 11-4 and held off the Raiders in the final inning.
Offensively for the Raiders, Jenn Naragon went 3-3, Rhea Harner went 2-4, Jillian Plikerd and Lynzee Cronkleton both had a double with an RBI, Elliott Bailey had a double and Brooks Myers and Gretchen Wilber each added an RBI.

Lakers can’t get past Hillclimbers
Indian Lake’s softball team fell to host Urbana 7-3 on Tuesday during Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.
Urbana got some early momentum to lead 6-0 after two innings. The Hillclimbers added a run in the fifth inning for a 7-0 cushion. Indian Lake’s three runs came in the sixth inning, but couldn’t make up any more ground.
Hailey Talbot hit a double with two RBI to lead the Lakers at the plate, while Kendall Cotterman and Kyleigh Huffer each had a double.
Madison Brentlinger took the loss in the pitching circle, but tallied eight strikeouts.
Indian Lake hosts Kenton Ridge on Friday for a CBC crossover game.

Panthers clip Tigers
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team was edged by host Fairbanks 2-1 on Tuesday in an Ohio Heritage Conference contest.
The Tigers slip to 12-9 overall and 8-5 in the OHC standings.
Fairbanks scored a run in the second inning for a 1-0 advantage. Both teams scored a run in the third inning, which left the Panthers holding a 2-1 lead. The Tigers were never able to find home plate the rest of the game.
Emily Bolton highlighted the Tiger offense with a hit and an RBI.

Jets take down Cardinals
Triad’s softball team couldn’t hold up against visiting Northeastern on Tuesday as the Jets came away with an 8-5 win in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Cardinals fall to 7-13 overall and 5-7 in the OHC.
Triad was in control to start Tuesday’s game with a 3-0 lead after three innings.
Northeastern battled back to score four runs in the fourth inning and another four in the fifth inning. That vaulted the Jets in front 8-3.
Triad was able to drive in two runs in the sixth inning to trail 8-5, but couldn’t get any more offense going.
Kaydence Feasel went 3-3 with a double to lead Triad’s offense and Holly Alvoid went 2-2.
Triad travels to Miami East today.

Ridgemont falls to Ridgedale
Ridgemont’s softball team couldn’t get on track against visiting Ridgedale and fell 17-4 in a non-league contest.
The Gophers fall to 9-4 as the Rockets move to 10-7.
Ridgedale built a 5-2 lead by the end of the fifth inning. The Rockets piled up six more runs in the top of the sixth for an 11-2 cushion.
Ridgemont scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Ridgedale added six more runs in the seventh to help secure the win.
Offensively for the Gophers, Nikki Freshcorn went 2-3 with a double, Braxton Thomas had a double with two RBI and Hailey Howard had ad double with an RBI.
Ridgemont is back in action Thursday at Cory-Rawson.
