A mom accused of killing her three sons over a 13-month period admitted today she unintentionally kill the first son while intentionally murdering two others.
Brittany Pilkington, 27, entered guilty pleas to two counts of murder and a single count of involuntary manslaughter.
Under the agreement, Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart agreed to dismiss the aggravated murder indictment which carried death specifications while the defense agreed to consecutive sentences of life on the murders charges and seven on the manslaughter charge.
Pilkington, who has been in the Logan County Jail since Aug. 18, 2015, will have to serve the manslaughter charge prior to beginning the two murder sentences.
She will have to serve minimum of 15 years for each of the murder before she is eligible for a parole hearing.
In all, she will have to serve 37 years to qualify for parole.
With her guilty pleas, she admits to rolling over onto infant Niall Pilkington while they slept in her bed in July 2014 and did not bother to seek medical attention for him. Further, she admits she intentionally suffocated Gavin, 4, on April 6, 2015 and infant Noah on Aug. 18, 2015.
Assigned Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor accepted the pleas.
