Phyllis Carol Brunson, 88, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Bellefontaine on April 4, 1928, to the late Carl C. and Emma Frances Packer Smith. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh “Poke” Benchoff; second husband, Donald L. Brunson; a son, Dale R. Benchoff; a granddaughter, Cheryl Reneé McClain; two sisters, Sue Smith and Betty Jean Benchoff; and a brother, Richard “Dick” Smith.
Phyllis is survived by her two children, Linda (Steve) Winter-Jennings and Brian (Jodi) Brunson; five grandchildren, Carol (Cory) McClain-Wagner, Deb Winter, Cassie Barger, David Barger and Scott Brunson; three great-grandchildren, Mallory Linebaugh, Bailey Wagner and Adam Wagner; a great-great-grandson, Klayten Chamberlin; a sister, Shirley Wyatt; a special niece, Lynn Kay; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis had worked at D.A.B. for 29 years, and was owner and operator of One Hour/Hutchins Dry Cleaners. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Champaign Quilters Club, Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and was inducted as an honorary member of the Ridgemont High School FFA Chapter in 2014.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. today, April 30, and one hour prior to a funeral at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Ave., Bellefontaine, with Pastor Jeffory Willetts officiating. A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
