Peterson, a senior center for West Liberty-Salem, was named Tuesday to the Division III Associated Press all-Ohio first team.
“I am really happy for her,” said West Liberty-Salem head coach Dennis McIntosh. “Her overall maturity really stood out this season. She was double- and triple-teamed a lot, but she showed a lot of patience. She didn’t get frustrated and she didn’t force things.”
Peterson averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots during her final prep season. She shot 59 percent from the field.
“Her rebounding was really big for us and I thought she stepped up her defense, too,” said McIntosh. “When you have a player like her in the middle, it allows you to put a lot of pressure on the other team’s guards because even if you get beat, they have to deal with Jamie in front of the basket. She made our whole defense better.”
