Former West Liberty-Salem volleyball standout Jamie Peterson continues to find success at the University of Dayton after being named the Atlantic 10 player of the year for a second straight year.
A redshirt junior, Peterson has powered the Flyers all season as an outside hitter. Stats as of April 3 show her leading the team with 257.5 points and 212 kills. She is second on the team in digs with 107 and has 31 blocks.
Peterson was also named to the Atlantic 10 all-conference first-team squad.
The yearly awards, along with all-conference teams were recently announced by the Atlantic 10 league office.
University of Dayton volleyball team has now earned three of the Atlantic 10’s five top year-end awards. Teammate Bridget Doherty was named setter of the year, while Tim Horsmon was named coach of the year. This is also the fourth consecutive time Dayton has claimed the player of the year honor.
Dayton won the Atlantic 10 conference tournament last Saturday after defeating Virginia Commonwealth University in straight sets. Dayton plays next in the opening round of the NCAA tournament against Towson University on Wednesday, April 14.
