MARYSVILLE — A Columbus man sustained life-threatening injuries Friday after being struck by a truck in eastern Union County, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Robert Binger, 59, walked onto U.S. Route 42 north of Wells Road in Jerome Township at about 3:20 p.m. and was struck by a 2015 Peterbilt commercial truck driven by Randall Miller, 54, of Conneaut Lake, Pa.
Mr. Miller pulled over immediately after striking Mr. Binger, who had exited a private drive and entered the highway on foot, troopers report. Alcohol is not a factor and no violations were found when an inspection of the commercial vehicle was conducted.
Mr. Binger was taken by a Jerome Township squad to Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, and deputies of the Union County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
