Joyce W. Downey, 66, of West Mansfield, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to the helicopter pad, and then by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Monday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Landun M. Orich, 16, of Kenton. He did not report any injuries.
A second passenger in the vehicle, Zoe Orich-Downey, 19, of Kenton, was transported by BMRT EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
The second driver, Douglas D. Watkins, 64, of Belle Center, was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of possible injuries.
Deputies report Watkins was operating an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on County Road 37 approaching County Road 130 about 5:50 p.m. when he failed to stop at the stop sign. His vehicle was struck by a southbound 2004 Ford F-150 on C.R. 130 operated by Landun. Both vehicles went off the southeast side of the intersection.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene. Watkins was cited for a stop sign violation.
• Callie N. Burba, 17, of Huntsville, was cited for failure to yield relating to a non-injury crash about 3:10 p.m. Monday.
Deputies report she was operating a northbound 2016 Honda Accord on Township Road 95 and was behind another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Route 33.
Mackenzie R. Peterson, 18, of Bellefontaine, was operating a southbound 2021 Nissan Versa and she began to make a left turn onto eastbound U.S. 33.
Callie reportedly failed to yield and struck the Peterson vehicle in the intersection. Damage was moderate to both vehicles. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
