Cleryssa T. Casto, 41, of Belle Center, was flown by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of suspected serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Zachary A. Newland, 29, of Belle Center, in the 6:30 p.m. crash at the intersection at county roads 12 and 20.
Newland reportedly was operating an eastbound 2011 Chevrolet Malibu on C.R. 20. Landon J. Wakins, 38, of West Mansfield, reportedly was operating a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado on C.R. 12.
Deputies said Newland failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection. His vehicle was struck in the passenger side by the Watkins vehicle.
Newland reported minor injuries, but was not transported from the scene. Watkins and his passenger did not report any injuries. All of the occupants were wearing their seat belts. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
Deputies continue their investigation and have not yet issued any citations.
