Elizabeth Yuraitis, 27, of Columbus, and a passenger, Catherine Allee, 29, of Palm Beach, Fla., each were arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday evening, officers of the Washington Township Police Department report.
Yuraitis was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allee was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a drug abuse instrument.
Officers on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 33 near State Route 708 about 10:05 p.m. observed a maroon Pontiac fail to stop while making a right-hand turn, ignoring a traffic control device.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, identifying the driver as Yuraitis and passenger as Allee.
While speaking with Yuraitis, officers observed her to be overly nervous and she gave officers consent to search the vehicle. Front seat passenger Allee was asked to exit the vehicle and while doing so, officers noticed a glass crack pipe sitting on the passenger seat. Allee was placed under arrest.
Officers continued to search the vehicle, locating a hypodermic needle and three other glass crack pipes on the passenger side of the vehicle. They also recovered a wallet from Yuraitis concealing a $100 bill that was folded several times.
When officers unfolded the $100 bill, they discovered a white powdery substance inside the bill that field-tested positive for fentanyl. Yuraitis was then placed under arrest and both women were transported to Logan County Jail.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department also assisted with the stop.
