Dustin S. Zachariah, 33, and Kylie D. Howard, 32, both of 216 S. Main St., Ridgeway, each were charged with domestic violence related to an incident Wednesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to their address about 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a physical altercation at the home. A neighbor reported she had tried to intervene while the pair were fighting outside in the street. She said the man had grabbed the woman and put his hands on her, pushing her to the ground.
Hardin County deputies also responded to the incident, due to the proximity to the Logan and Hardin county line.
Zachariah was initially detained by Hardin County deputies, and Logan County deputies spoke with Howard. She told deputies that during an argument, she struck Zachariah in the face. She asked deputies not to take her boyfriend to jail and initially denied that he had placed his hands on her.
While speaking with Zachariah, deputies noticed that his bottom lip was swollen and bleeding. He said he didn’t wish to provide any statements about what happened. During further interviews with witnesses, deputies learned that Zachariah and Howard had been consuming alcohol together that evening prior to the altercation.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail. Zachariah was issued a felony domestic violence charge because of prior convictions.
Howard’s two children at were at the home at the time of the incident, and they were left in the care of a family member.
