Jeffrey C. Brooks, 59, of 7791 Township Road 269, Waterbury, Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a traffic stop Thursday evening.
Deputies received a report of an intoxicated man who had been in the Midway Marathon gas station, 8758 Township Road 239, purchasing beer. The caller stated that the man got in a vehicle and provided the license plate number.
Deputies located Brooks driving in the area of state routes 235 and 720. The vehicle then turned onto County Road 52 without utilizing a turn signal and also began to drive in the opposite lane of travel.
The traffic stop was initiated, and deputies said Brooks displayed signs of intoxication. He admitted to consuming alcohol. An open can of beer was located inside his vehicle.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a chemical test. He also was cited for open container in a motor vehicle, a turn signal violation and driving left of center.
