The Logan County Republicans hosted a fundraiser for Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judi French Tuesday evening at the Indian Lake Yacht Club, where a crowd of conservatives and law enforcement representatives gathered.
Justice French was joined by fellow Ohio Supreme Court Justices Pat Fischer and Pat DeWine.
Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Kevin Braig introduced Justice French, who is running for a second six-year term on Ohio’s highest court.
“I have a voice as a Supreme Court Justice and I really try to use that voice for improvements in the judicial system and that includes better access to justice and better civic education,” French explained to the group.
The Teamsters recently joined a growing and diverse list of businesses, insurance groups, and the Ohio Farm Bureau and others who have endorsed Justice French.
She said for anyone who’s interested in keeping the Ohio economy strong, understanding the importance of the State Supreme Court is critically important.
“What I learned as a lawyer representing clients was….we wanted to be able to look back at precedent and say here’s what we think is going to happen and be able to make decisions based on that. As long as you have a more conservative bench, that likes to keep the law more predictable, consistent and stable, that helps everybody in the Ohio economy.”
Justice French was appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2013 and was elected to her first full term in 2014. She is the 10th woman to sit on the Supreme Court in the state of Ohio and she faces a challenger on the November ballot.
