Marilyn H. Bailey, 85, of Urbana passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, in Hearth and Home of Urbana. 

She was born Oct. 28, 1932, in London, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clyde William and Emma Lucille Henry Bennett. Marilyn was a 1950 Graduate of North Lewisburg High School and began working as a secretary with Omco Products in the fall of that year. She then began working as secretary for Bellefontaine High School, as well as secretary for National Eagles Office and Springfield Paper and Merchandise.

She married the love of her life, Vincent R. Bailey on May 25, 195,1 and together, they purchased their first home, 1821 N. Belmont St., Springfield. Marilyn then graduated in 1964 from Frederick’s Beauty School for cosmetology obtaining her manager’s license. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering her time to others, working at the school library, serving as the PTA president and spending time fundraising for Adriel Schools in the 1980s  She organized the Fountain Park Nursing Home Activities, the Alzheimer’s Support Groups in Urbana, Bellefontaine, Springfield and New Carlisle, and was a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association. Marilyn was a member and president of the Cable Homemakers Club as well as the Champaign County Homemakers Club. She was a Sunday school teacher, made toys to be donated to hospital and was a member of the Hill and Valley Club as well as Urbana Church of Christ. Most of all, Marilyn enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family.  

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Vincent R. Bailey; their three children, Bradley (Karen) Bailey and their six children, Michael (Keri) Salazar (and their 12 children), Bryan and Kristen Villas (and their four children), Scott and Ali Vogann (and their five children), Rachel Charis Bailey, Peter (Lyndsy) Bailey (and their five children) and Abigail (Chris) Khavari (and their two children); Vickie (Carson) Reed(and their four children, Leslie, William, Ren and Megan (Riley); and Melodie (Ronald) Bissonette; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

 She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Harlyn (Pearl) and Lamar Bennett.  Funeral services are at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, following calling that begins at 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial is at the family’s convenience in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
