Willis C. Brown, 81, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 9:24 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born in Paintsville, Ky., on April 26, 1937, a son of the late Lacy and Cloie Lemaster Brown. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Brown.
On April 28, 1962, he married Julia Hunt and she survives along with their children, a son, Greg (Tressa) Brown of Ft. Jennings and Melissa (Scott) Workman of Westerville; five grandchildren, Ian Brown, Connor Brown, Mara (Brown) Grothaus, Matthew Workman and Kyle Workman; six sisters, Bureeda Hackworth, Betty Wallen, Mildred Burkholder, Viola Wilson, Elwanda Hastings and Judi Ludwig; two brothers, Clyde Brown and Larry Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Willis worked for the telephone company for many years before becoming an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard and was a longtime member of Bellefontaine Elks Lodge 132 as well as V.F.W. Post 1080 and Rotary Club of Bellefontaine. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine.
