William R. “Bill” Knear, 78, of DeGraff, passed away at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his home. He was born in Kingscreek, to the late Carl Raymond and Odlene O’Brien Knear.
On April 4, 1959, he married the former Patricia Heminger in Rosewood and she survives. Their 59-year marriage was blessed with the births of their four daughters, Wanda (John) Ellison, Brenda (Rich) Lopez, Sandy (Brian) Samples and Wilma (Dave) Marquis; seven grandchildren, Barbie, Sid, John, William, Joshua, Chelsea and Brett; 12 great-grandchildren and another due in June; a sister, Marilyn; and his faithful dogs, Abby and Joy.
A sister, Carol, also preceded him in death.
Bill was a farmer and retired from United Telephone Company after 42 years of service. A handyman to an extreme, he could fix anything. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, NASCAR and watching train programs.
A Celebration of Life service and potluck dinner begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Knear farm. Family and friends are invited.
