Roger Phillip “Phil” Neer, 64, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at his home.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Aug. 4, 1953, to the late Charles Neer and Thelma Huffman Neer. Roger was also preceded in death by a brother, Allen Huffman.
Roger was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Bellefontaine VFW and American Legion. In his younger years, Roger spent time restoring cars. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Roger also loved his dogs, Rusty and Reece and cat, Bubba.
Roger is survived by his children, Melissa (Rich) Reynolds of Rushsylvania, Mitchell Cheadle of Arcanum, Matthew Cheadle of Bellefontaine and Mackenzie Neer of Columbus; four grandchildren, Gage (Elise) Yeager, Allissa Yeager, Porter Cheadle and Zelda Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Simon, Richard, Samuel and Truett; a sister, Cynthia (Scott) Brown of Anderson, S.C.; nephew, Wesley A. Harrington of Wilmington, N.C.; and a niece, Kellie A. Epps of Anderson, S.C.
A celebration of Roger’s life is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in the back room of the VFW Frank Castle Post 1080, 216 Orchard Ave., Bellefontaine, through arrangements by Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine.
