Betty L. Holycross, 92, of Bellefontaine, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, with her loving family by her side in the Green Hills Community, West Liberty.
She was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Springfield, a daughter of Elmer Roger and Alma Virginia Knicely Delaney. Betty married Charles Edward Holycross on Dec. 15, 1945, and he preceded her in death.
She also is preceded in death by her brothers, Warren, Stanley, Robert, Donald and Maynard Delaney; her sisters, Kathryn Bahan Johnson and Carolyn Ferryman; grandchildren, Kayli and Paul Holycross; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Holycross.
Betty was baptized at the Church of Christ in East Liberty and was a long time member. She also was a member of Rebekah Lodge Order of the Eastern Star, Middleburg, and Ladies Aid.
She loved playing cards with her family and friends, doing puzzles with family and was known for her great pie baking. She was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Larry) Brunke, Pamela (Craig) Carmean and Kathy (Steve) Robinson; her sons, Roger (Susan) Holycross, Dale (Robin) Holycross, Michael (Suzie) Holycross and Brian Holycross; grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Lance, Lyle, Jim, Christopher, Kaitlin, Jacob, Carrie, Jennifer, Krista, Bryce and Jessica, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine (Cleon) Lininger, sisters-in-law, Jimmie Faye Delaney and Ann Delaney; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, where funeral services follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Miller officiating. Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
