Wanda Lee McBride, 85, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was born in Dayton on Dec. 13, 1931, to the late Owen F. Staup and Madonna Campbell Staup.
A sister, Geri Howard, preceded Wanda in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Kerns of Belle Center, and Kimberlee (Joanna) McBride of Richmond, Ind.; six grandchildren, Kristina, Marcia, Mark, Miranda, Amanda and Maureen; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Phyllis (David) Ackley of West Liberty; and five nieces and one nephew.
Wanda was a member of the Episcopal Church in Bellefontaine and the Lions Club. She was a 1950 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. Wanda also graduated from nursing school at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a retired registered nurse and devoted her life to helping others. Wanda was responsible for the 1963 State of the Mental Health Clinic in Tri-Valley. She enjoyed being with her family. Wanda loved cooking and listening to classical music, with a martini.
Chaplain Victor Brady officiates a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the columbarium in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
