Samuel J. Eicher, 79, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at his Millersburg home.
A former resident of Belle Center and rural Bellefontaine, he was a retired contractor and member of Oasis Tabernacle, Sugarcreek.
Samuel was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Daviess County, Ind., to the late Jacob and Lydia Miller Eicher.
On Aug. 9, 1960, he married Ruth Stoll and she survives,along with four sons and three daughters, Jerry (Tina) Eicher and John (Ruth) Eicher, both of Virginia, Susanna (Chuck) Phillips, Miriam (John) Yoder and Sara (Joseph) Hochstetler, all of Millersburg, Jacob (Ruby) Eicher of Alaska and Samuel Jr. (Janet) Eicher of Sugarcreek; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 16 foster children who called him grandpa; six brothers; and three sisters.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Oasis Tabernacle, Sugarcreek, where calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 11. Wayne Weaver officiates and burial is in Union Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
