Robert E. Winks, 92, of Lakeview, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1925, in Lima to Robert and Bernice Ridenhour Winks, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 29, 1946, he married Alma Louise Widmark, who preceded him in death April 10, 2009.
Bob was a veteran serving in the Army- Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener and he kept up with his garden even this summer.
Bob is survived by his stepson, Charles “Gene” (Brenda) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Geri (Gene) Warner; granddaughter, Cindy (Gary) Smith; grandsons, Doug (Sharon) Anderson and Jeff Anderson; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (the late Dave) Griffith and JoAnn (the late Louis) Fitzgerald and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline Adams and Betty Goble.
Funeral service are at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home and Cremation Services — Shawnee Chapel, Lima, where calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28.
Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service with VFW Post 1275 performing military honors.
