Albert “Syd” Johnstone, 86, of Zanesfield, passed away at 11:11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Omaha, Neb., on Nov. 2, 1930, to the late Albert S. and Alice Figlianna Johnstone. On Sept. 12, 1981, in Kentucky, he married Charlotte Pratt Johnstone and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Juanita (Marvin) Veenendaal of Mechanicsville, Iowa; a son, Terry Conner of Florence, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A son, Tracy Conner, also preceded Syd in death.
Syd was a truck driver for 40 years. He and Char attended Shilo Chapel in Marysville. Syd lived life to the fullest. In his younger years he enjoyed archery and loved to hunt. In Syd’s later years, he took up needlework and played cards and board games. All who loved Syd will miss him.
Pastor Jim Davis officiates a memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior to the service.
