Mildred J. Barnett, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, in Zephyrhills, Fla.
She and her husband were owner/operators of the Red Lantern restaurant in Bellefontaine and Aunt Millie’s restaurant in Russells Point.
She was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Booneville, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Mona Gabbard Judd. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Rahmona Barnett; and two brothers, William and Lowell Judd.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Barnett; daughters, Linda Lawson and Rhonda Barnett; sister, Gladys Brewster (Donald); brother, Charles Judd (Shelby); grandchildren, Shannon Lawson and Matthew Lawson (Tiffany); and two great-grandchildren, Xavier Lawson and Austin Ivey.
A poor girl from Booneville, Ky., being raised on an apple orchard made Mildred become a hard and strong worker. Mildred moved to Ohio when she was 16 years old and became very successful.
Mildred loved the holidays, swimming, golfing, gardening, Pepsi and was a sun worshiper. But most of all, Mildred loved her family. Mildred was a very strong woman battling a couple different kinds of cancer and was currently in remission from a four-year battle with small cell lung cancer.
The Rev. John Lockwood officiates a funeral at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, at the Bethel Community Church, 1020 Lower Bellbrook Road, Xenia, where visitation begins at 10 a.m.
