Patricia Anne Cutlip Huhn


Patricia Anne Cutlip Huhn, 73, of Russells Point, formerly of Columbus, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2015, at her home.

Patricia was born on Sept. 11, 1941, to the late Alice Louise McCallen and Arthur S. Cutlip. Patti also was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law, Alex and Catherine Huhn; and brothers-in-law, Donald E. Huhn and Randy Short.

Survivors include her son, Bruce A. (Julie Lahrand and her son, Billy) and her grandson, Jacob A., all of Russells Point; her brother, David (Cookie) Cutlip; her sister, Betty Lou Short; her sisters-in-law, Nancy O’Connor and Patricia (Jerry) Niekamp; brother-in-law, Robert (Linda) Huhn; her cousins, Janice Gies and Rozanne Robinson, both of whom claimed sisterhood to Patti and Betty Lou; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Patti grew up on the hilltop in Columbus and graduated from West High School in 1959. A convert to Catholicism, she met her future husband, William “Bill” Huhn at a Sunday evening dance, Nov. 13, 1960, sponsored by the Catholic Youth Council at the KofC Council 400 building, later known as the Salesian Center. They were married May 1, 1965, and had been looking forward to their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary.

Patti had a long career of more than 37 years with the federal government, almost entirely spent with the Department of Agriculture. Patti enjoyed camping, traveling, and the time spent with family and friends at her home on Indian Lake.

Patti and Bill were members and sang in the choir at St. Mary of the Woods Church, where she had many dear and treasured friends.

Father Harold W. Kist officiates a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, and one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary of the Woods Church, Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew and Friends Serving Friends of Indian Lake.
