Richard E. Gundolf, 92, of Rosewood, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, in Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
Born on Aug. 11, 1922, in Champaign County, he was a son of the late Glenn L. and Ethel J. Lemmon Gundolf.
He married Marcella J. Watkins on Jan. 17, 1959, and she preceded him in death June 20, 2006. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Emerson and Robert; and a nephew, Jim Gundolf.
Mr. Gundolf is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ida Snavley of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a nephew, Tim (Deb) Gundolf of Urbana; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He also will be missed by his good friends, Garner and Loretta Geuy of Conover, Sharon Luttrell of Christiansburg and Charles and Marian Moore of DeGraff.
Mr. Gundolf was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church, where he and his wife organized the tape ministry. For 14 years, they recorded the services and delivered tapes to shut-ins.
A 1940 graduate of Rosewood High School, he was engaged in farming. He retired in 1988 from the Ohio State Department of Transportation.
Mr. Gundolf was a former member of the Champaign County Farm Bureau, the Masons and the Rosewood Grange. He was an active volunteer at the Green Hills community.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral service at noon Friday, Feb. 20, at Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, St. Paris, with the Rev. Andy Leighty of the Rosewood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial is in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
