Ralph Dale Dunfee, 83, of Lakeview, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 2015, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
Ralph was born in Scottown on Oct. 5, 1931, to the late Merrill and Eva Bennett Dunfee, and raised in Springfield.
On March 25, 1972, he married the love of his life, the former Maureen G. Dillman and she preceded him in death Nov. 16, 2005.
He is survived by three children, Deborah (Alan) Schuler of Port Charlotte, Fla., Linda (Jeff) McCafferty of Belle Center and Dale (Sheri) Dunfee of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Paul (Doris) Dunfee of Titusville, Fla., and Rosemary (Carl) Poole and Michael (Gwen) Dunfee, both of Springfield; and special friend, Helen Russell.
Ralph retired from Ohio Bell after 36 years of service.
He was twice an Exalted Ruler of the Springfield BPOE Lodge 51. He was also a member of the Union Club in Springfield, Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39, Indian Lake Eagles Aeries 3615 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, all of Lakeview.
Ralph was a sports enthusiast and avid fan of NASCAR and OSU football. He was a naturalist at heart who enjoyed watching wildlife and using his green thumb gardening around his property.
He also was a CB radio operator and he and Maureen used the handles Happy Pappy and Mighty Mo.
Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
