Virginia Belle Royer, 95, formerly of Belle Center, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 27, 2015, at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
Virginia was born in Lima on Nov. 10, 1919, to the late Ambrose and Edna Sutter Keller.
She married Paul Woodrow Royer in Covington, Ky., on Aug. 25, 1937, and he preceded her in death June 1, 1997. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Klinger; siblings, Albert and Harold Keller, Beatrice Sproul, Helen Zwiebel and Betty Woodruff; and two dear friends, Mary Dillon and Mary Lou Crapnell.
Virginia worked at the Belle Center Creamery and then later worked as a clerk at the Logan County Treasurer’s Office.
She was a 1937 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 70 years. Virginia also was a member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Fides Chapter of King’s Daughters.
Virginia is survived by her children, Delores Rockhold of Waynesville, Ronald P. (Patty) Royer of Port Charlotte, Fla., Marie (Jack) Orders of Belle Center and Stephen C. (Cindy) Royer of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; son-in-law, Jerry Klinger of Greensboro, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Ruth Worley.
Pastor Kevin Smith officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Belle Center, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
