Eugene “Gene” Marciniak

obit Eugene Gene Marciniak

Eugene “Gene” Marciniak, 69, of Russells Point passed away peacefully after a long battle with heart and lung disease, Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at his home with family by his side.

Gene was born on July 24, 1950 in a camp in Soltau, Germany after the war. He was the son of the late Joseph and Lucile Marciniak.

Gene leaves behind his life partner and best friend, Betty Tierney; a daughter, Tammy (Drew) Farris; two grandsons, Jeremiah (Brittany) Stowers and Blake Farris; and three great grandsons, Braxton, Kash, and Ryker.

After coming to America, Gene and his parents lived in New Jersey. He attended vocational school for auto body and owned a shop in New Jersey. In 1979, he and Betty moved to Ohio, where he opened a body shop at Indian Lake. During that time, he saw the need for a bait shop. While working late nights and early mornings, people would stop and inquire about where to buy bait. So eventually due to his health, he opened Gene’s Marine Bait & Tackle. Over the years, he expanded to marine accessories and boat repair. He loved his bait shop and his customers, his family and friends. Gene’s family will carry on his business and keep his memory alive. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at a later date.
