David Edwin Miller Sr., 73, of Kenton passed away at his residence on Friday, July 5, 2019, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Bellefontaine, on Sept. 30, 1945, to the late David Adam and Margaret Jenette Patrick Miller.
David is survived by his wife, Alice May Miller; children, David B. (Camella) Hemmerly of Kenton, Timothy,(Dawn) Hemmerly of Forest, Robert (Jennifer) Hemmerly of St. Paris and Christine (Roger) Wagner of Lima; eight grandchildren, Keith Hemmerly, Stephen (Amanda) Hemmerly, Amanda (Jonathan) Carpenter, Abby (Chase) Hommel, Jessica (Jeff) Root, Jason (Jill) Wagner, Tyler (Owen) Shafer and Christian (Chelsea) Miller; 10 great-grandchildren, Gavin Manns, Layla Scott, Nathan Root, Eli Carpenter, Aylah Carpenter, Jax Hommel, Cole Hommel, Lilly Shafer, Liam Shafer, Noah Hemmerly, Macey Hemmerly and Cooper Wagner; and three sisters, Peggy Brown of Defiance and Linda Holcomb and Barbara Hatcher, both of Kenton.
He also was preceded in death by a son, David Edwin Miller Jr.; a brother, James William Miller; and a sister, Fonda Robinson.
David was a graduate of Belle Center High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a “die hard” fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Kenton Wildcats. He had a love for all sports and attended all the sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Kenton Little League coach.
A graveside service begins at noon Wednesday, July 10, in the Grove Cemetery committal building, with Pastor Randy Manns officiating and military rites provided by Forest VFW Post 1182, American Legion Post 259 and AMVETS Post 1994.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 10, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, Kenton.
