Josephine “Jo” Jackson, 98, of West Chester, formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2019, at Chesterwood Village. She was born Oct. 30, 1920, in LaRue, the youngest of five children to the late John B. and Mollie Miller Haynes.
On Jan. 26, 1941, she married Warren E. “Jack” Jackson in Lima, and he preceded her in death June 23, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her son, Ben Jackson of Lebanon, on July 28, 2011, as well as her sister, Edith (Judd) Shepherd; and brothers, John A. (Marion) Haynes, Max Haynes and William Haynes.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Mollie Cie (Jim) Grosskopf of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Jackson of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Matt (Ruth) Grosskopf of Bloomington, Ill., Barbara Jo Grosskopf-Zwibelman of Naperville, Ill., and Stuart Jackson of La Grange, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Grosskopf-Zwibelman and Brandon Hauck; and numerous nieces and their families.
Jo and her husband owned and operated Jackson’s Logan News in Bellefontaine for 47 years until their retirement in 1997.
She was a past member of King’s Daughters and volunteered at Mary Rutan Hospital for many years. She was a member of Bellefontaine Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the First Methodist Church in Bellefontaine.

Arrangements were handled by Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua.
Honoring the wishes of Jo, private family services were held at Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
