Judith Ann “Judy” Snipes, 69, of Wilmington, N.C., and formelry of DeGraff, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 20, 1949, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to the late Joseph Gail and Lema Mae Dotson Snkpes.
A 1968 graduate of Riverside High School, she worked at Yeasel’s in Jackson Center and was a girls’ house parent at the Logan County Children’s Home. In 1973, she moved to Albany, N.Y., where she worked at the Albany Medical Center and later for the New York Bureau of Workman’s Comp as an investigator until her retirement in 2011.
She was a volunteer for many different children’s and senior citizens organization, and found great joy in helping any person who needed her help.
Survivors include her siblings, Jerry Neil (Susan) Snipes and Larry Gail (Lynne) Snipes, both of Lewistown, Janice Kay (Donald) Spangler of Waynesfield and William Glenn Snipes of Sidney; nieces and nephews, Dawn (Walid Ibraham) Snipes, Jeremy (Jenn) Snipes, Nikki (John) Shaner, Arica (Travis) Thompson, Shawn (Beverly) Snipes, Erin (Brian) Hunt, April (Ryan) Lange, Jennifer (Brian) Joseph, Sharon (Shawn) Sparks, Jason Snipes, Isaiah (Kelsey) Snipes, Amanda (Rocky Swonguer) Wood, Joshua (Tonia) Amonds and Nona (Tanner Conwell) Ammonds; 14 great-nieces; 14 greatnephews; one great-great-nephew; and two great-great-nephews on the way who will always cherish her memories.
She also was preceded in death by all her grandparents, aunts and uncles, an infant sister, Edna Caroline; one great-greatnephew; and one great-great-niece.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial is being planned for a later date at the convenience of family.
The family asks that any memorials go to the American Cancer Society and to any organization wich promotes the health and well being of children.
