Terry L. Cumbo, 64, of Lewistown, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in the emergence department of Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
Terry was born May 5, 1954, in Haysi, Va., a son of the late Farley Clinton Sr. and Mildred Gay Willis Cumbo. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Farley Clinton Jr. and Glenda Cumbo.
Terry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Kern Cumbo; two sons, Jason (Heather) Cumbo and Danny (Carrie) Cumbo; one granddaughter, Teresa Ann Cumbo who was the love of his life; one brother, Palmer Glenn Cumbo; and a half-sister, Emma Lynn Gibson.
Terry worked for 20 years as a coal miner for Westmorland Coal Company in Wise, Va. The last several years he worked as an underground electrician, during which time he was a full-time student at the University of Virginia at Wise, Va., earning his bachelor’s degree in computer science. Previously, he earned his associate degree at Mountain Empire Community College at Big Stone Gap, Va. He later was an adjunct professor for Mountain Empire Community College. Terry currently worked as a software test engineer for Stoneridge Resources in Belleville. He enjoyed gardening, going to Indian Lake and feeding the fish, and loved animals, especially his dogs.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Hope Harbor Baptist Church, 8330 N. State Route 235, Lewistown. Pastor Fred Albert officiates.
