Rachel M. Osbun, 90, of Kenton, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019. She was born June 2, 1928, in Kenton to the late Karl and Margaret Carrothers Bloom. She married Richard F. Osbun on June 25, 1949, and he preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2006.
She is survived by her five children, Steven Osbun and Nancy Jo Osbun, both of Kenton, Michael (Larissa) Osbun of Huntsville, Kay (Tim) Brickley of Decatur, Ga., and Dale (Nancy Jean) Osbun of Sandusky; a sister, Louise Bloom Norman of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, Brad (Andrea) Osbun of Cary, N.C., Kelli (Cory) Conner of Lima, Danielle (Scott) Batchelder of Cincinnati and Brian (Wennie) Osbun of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three stepgrandchildren, Jen (Eric) Neuhaus of Erlanger, Ky., and Aaron (Nikki) Hursh and Andrew (Jessica) Hursh, both of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Alex Osbun, Cain and Chloe Conner, Joe and Sam Neuhaus and Teagan, Brysen, Ezra and Kennedy Hursh.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Maurice Bloom, Warren Bloom, Mildred Bloom Schrupp, John Bloom, Mary Bloom Wortman, Joseph Bloom and Emma Jane Bloom.
Rachel was a farm wife and homemaker.
She raised dairy and beef cattle with her husband and occasionally held jobs at Kenton Theater as an usher, at North Electric factory, the Mt. Victory Plaza as a prep cook and at R.E. Allen Bag Factory.
Rachel was known for her sharp wit, great cooking and desserts, especially her pies. It is fitting that she passed away on National Pi Day.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Grove Cemetery in Kenton, through arrangements by Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home in Kenton.
