Harry A. Ricks Jr., 85, of Huntsville, passed away at 12 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Logan Acres Care Center. He was born in Huntsville on Oct. 26, 1933, to the late Harry Alfred Sr. and Evelyn Gregg Ricks.
On Nov. 9, 1956, Harry married the former Phyllis Hurley in Mt. Victory, and she survives, along with their daughter, Jerri (John) Goodman; two sons, Perry Ricks and Barry (Julia) Ricks; six grandchildren, Heather (Todd) Reiter, Mandy Ricks, David Ricks, Tori Ricks, Caimin Goodman and Ciaran Goodman; and five great-grandchildren, Scott Reiter, Noah Reiter, Sam Reiter, Gavin McClintock and Will Ricks.
He also was preceded in death by his son, Garry Ricks; and half-sister, Mary Jo Knapp.
A U.S. Army veteran, Harry served during the Korean War. He worked at Rockwell for 20 years before becoming co-owner of Snapp Barber & Beauty Supply in Huntsville. Harry attended Huntsville United Methodist Church and was a member of Bellefontaine Lodge 209 F&AM and Charles R. Collins American Legion Post 381 in Huntsville.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where a Masonic service begins at 7:45 p.m. Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7at the funeral home. Burial follows in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
