Gloria J. Young, 73, of Lakeview passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
Gloria was born in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 11, 1945, a daughter of the late Cecil Sr. and Opal Hammond Horne. She also is preceded in death by her former husband, David Lee Young; a son, Markle Young; a granddaughter, April Dunn; a great-grandson, Jeffery Young; two sons-in-law, Billy King and Shawn Griffith; and six siblings, Mary Horsley, Jane Yelton, Diana O’Hare, Genevieve Farmer, William Horne and Cecil Junior Horne.
Gloria is survived by four daughters, Deborah (Mike Brehm) King of Bellefontaine, Shirley (Tony Holbrook) Young and Loretta (Kenneth Golden) Young, both of Russells Point, and Sherry Griffith of Lakeview; five grandchildren, William King, Thomas King, Jeffery Young, Tony Young and Jamie Young; six great-grandchildren, James Castle, Rose Castle, Ashley King, Alexis King, Destiny Young and Skyler Moore; five siblings, Ron (Brenda) Horne of Bellefontaine, Sam (Connie) Horne of East Liberty, Tony (Melinda) Horne of Tipp City, Tom (Watana) Horne of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patricia (Dean) Wirick of West Liberty; a brother- in-law, John O’Hare; longtime companion, Timothy Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria was a former cook at The Landing in Russells Point for more than 17 years. She enjoyed listening to music, especially their family band, singing karaoke and being at family gatherings. She liked to watch professional wrestling.
Pastor Gary Brown begins funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the National Kidney Foundation.
