URBANA — The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a non-injury single engine plane crash that occurred Sunday morning in a field north of Grimes Field Airport.
A 1989 Van’s RV-6 experimental plane was approaching the runway about 8:22 a.m. and lost power during approach. The pilot, Michael Baldwin, 61, of Pickerington, made a controlled landing in a field.
Baldwin did not report any injuries, troopers said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Urbana Fire and EMS, Urbana Police Department, Grimes Field Airport officials and Maine’s Towing.
The FAA and NTSB were contacted and assisted on scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
