ILES COSI on Wheels

Indian Lake Elementary School students dress as all the different food groups during the COSI on Wheels’ “The Incredible Human Machine” presentation Friday, where pupils got to be a part of helping a human body become healthy through proper brain function, fuel and balance of energy and exercise. The session included introductions to the body's skeletal, muscular, circulatory, digestive and nervous systems. “This show is an educator favorite,” COSI on Wheels Outreach Educator Mackenzie Krueger said. “The body is relatable for kids, a concrete concept. The kids love all the dancing and being healthy is beneficial for everyone.” Students visited 10 different stations manned by volunteers throughout the day. The stations included a video game dancing challenge, X-rays, brain games, healthy eating, microscopic study of body cells, heart health and more. Among the participants, fourth-grader Gabriel Lowery experienced all the nervous system controls by trying to perform each of the brain’ss functions by himself. The ILES COSI on Wheels visit is paid for by the ILES Parent-Teacher Organization. (PHOTO | INDIAN LAKE SCHOOLS)
