Author to sign books at Saturday’s 5K Run/Walk

The Logan County Youth Leadership organization is hosting a Leaders of Hope 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18, in downtown Bellefontaine, to raise funds for the Be Like Brit Foundation in Haiti. The non-profit organization Be Like Brit was formed in the memory of U.S. college student Britney Gengel, who died in the January 2010 earthquake that struck the island nation. Through the foundation, an orphanage has been established in Grand Goave, Haiti.  Britney’s mother, Cherylann Gengel, will be available at the start/finish line of the race to sign books, Heartache and Hope in Haiti, which she co-authored with Britney’s father, Len.  Indian Lake Youth Leadership students are also helping the cause by selling Haitian-made bracelets at lunch for $1 Pre-register for the race at www.speedysneakers.com, call 599-5195 ext. 5506 or e-mail ksorreles@mresc.org.
