Martin wins ILMS spelling bee

Indian Lake Middle School sixth-grader Jayden Martin will never “relinquish” his title as the ILMS 2018 Spelling Bee champion, correctly spelling that word to win the contest.

Seventh-grader Rebecca Bihn took the second place spot. Both pupils will represent their school at the Logan County Spelling Bee at 6 p.m. Jan. 24 hosted by Bellefontaine City Schools.

Fellow ILMS student Elizabeth Braun, who took third place, will serve as the alternate.

It took 14 rounds to eliminate the 20 other students who were all chosen from language arts classes to participate in the ILMS bee. Students were provided spelling words from the Scripps National Spelling Bee List.
