BHS robotics team advances to world competition

The Bellefontaine High School Robotics Team 9185B members Kaitey Chervenak, Ryoma Kawakami, Hunter Kesler and Jon Moody recently competed in Vex State Robotics Competition at East High School, and from their performance, earned a spot at the Vex World Robotics Competition, where they will join 1 percent of international Vex Robotics teams. The event is April 24 to 28 in Louisville, Ky.

Ryoma also was part of previous BHS robotics teams that competed at the world contest the last two years.

At the state contest, their Team 9185B “Cletus and the Funky Bunch” finished 11th out of 75 teams in the morning contest, and was selected to compete in the afternoon play-offs. They won the quarterfinals and moved on to the semifinals, where they lost in the last match. Any team that advances to the semifinals qualifies for the world competition.
