A 2-month-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were transported by BMRT squad and Bellefontaine Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for medical treatment following a crash on U.S. Route 68 Sunday evening.

The infant, Jax Smith of Kenton, reportedly sustained possible injuries, while the teen, Tory Gibson, also of Kenton reportedly sustained non-incapaciating injuries, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.

They were passengers in a southbound pickup operated by Garrett I. Smith, 19, of Kenton, on U.S. 68 near Township Road 219 at 6:10 p.m. He reportedly lost control of the pickup on the snow- and ice-covered road and spun into the northbound lane. His pickup then struck a northbound SUV operated by Melissa A. Vollmar, 37, of Bowling Green.

No other injuries were reported for the drivers or other passengers in the vehicles. Deputies said two passengers in the pickup, Tory Gibson and Grace Gibson, were not wearing their seat belts, while other individuals were restrained in seat belts or child safety seats.

Damage was heavy to both vehicles. Smith was cited for failure to control.

• Thomas H. Mills, 69, of Urbana, was transported by Macochee EMS to Mercy Memorial Hospital of Urbana for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at county roads 1 and 5.

Deputies report he was a passenger in a northbound car operated by Carol Mills, 69, of Urbana, about 9:50 a.m. on C.R. 1.

An eastbound sport utility vehicle on C.R. 5 operated by Phyllis E. Hunt, 70, of Bellefontaine, reportedly stopped at the stop sign at the intersection and then continued eastbound, failing to yield to the Mills car. The car then struck the rear of the SUV.

The impact sent the car off the right side of C.R. 5 and into a stop sign. The two drivers also were checked at the scene by Macochee EMS personnel, but were not transported.

Hunt was cited for failure to yield, and damage was heavy to both vehicles. All occupants were wearing their seat belts.

• Deputies also responded to a non-injury slide-off crash about 12:20 a.m. Christmas Day on U.S. 68.

A northbound car operated by Jessica L. McMurray, 26, of Indianapolis, near Tracemore Lane reportedly drove off the right side of the snowy road and struck a ditch. No citations were issued, and damage was light to her car.
