Reckless driver jailed for threats

Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on charges of domestic violence and for an out-of-county arrest warrant following an altercation Tuesday in Belle Center.

Daniel Shane Robertson, 45, of 16931 Township Road 39, Belle Center, was jailed for aggravated menacing and domestic violence about 5 p.m. after he reportedly began driving erratically and threatening his live-in girlfriend, Sue Webster, 43, after picking her up from work at Spartan Nash, 4067 County Road 130, Bellefontaine.

Deputies responded about 4:30 p.m. to Murray Griffin Park in Belle Center, and were told the suspect became irate after Robertson reportedly told his partner she had to choose between her oldest son and himself.

When she wouldn’t, that is when the suspect reportedly began driving recklessly at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

He also drove the car off the roadway along State Route 117, County Road 200 and County Road 65 and into fields, threatening to intentionally crash the vehicle into specific trees and utility poles. At one point, Webster told deputies she opened her car door and contemplated fleeing the moving vehicle because she was afraid for her safety.

The suspect also has an outstanding warrant from Union County, deputies report. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
