Macochee Joint Ambulance District earns statewide recognition

Historical society pays for Bailey House

The Macochee Joint Ambulance District will garner statewide recognition for its swift medical response that helped save the life of a local man last summer.

Macochee will be presented with an Ohio EMS Star of Life Award as part of the Ohio EMS Conference May 24 in Columbus, West Liberty Village Council announced Monday in a regular meeting.

The ambulance district was nominated by CareFlight Air & Mobile Services for the response Macochee provided during an emergency call for service Aug. 13 at a residence located at 229 E. Baird St.

Macochee ambulance responded to the scene and found Scott Boyd, 56, partially run over by a bush hog rotary mower.

As part of the nomination process, Careflight provided only specific details of the incident, offering no opinion.

“The EMS Star of Life Awards recognize outstanding achievements and honor those in Ohio’s EMS system whose accomplishments rise above the day-to-day excellence of the system,” according to information provided by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services.
