The Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department was able to permanently retire nearly 1,000 feet of fire hose that is nearly 50 years old thanks to the donation of the Lake Township Trustees.
This week, the city fire department received a total of 4,050 feet of hose at a cost of $17,845, Assistant Fire Chief Mark Layman said.
Lake Township Trustees Bill Nicholl, Peter Stolly and Jim Wish and Fiscal Officer Bill Boy were on hand at the fire department this morning to see the fire hose before it is installed on the fire trucks.
“When we went to the trustees they never hesitated,” Assistant Chief Layman said. “They have always been very big supporters, not only monetarily, but overall.”
