Local shelter accepts animals in pet rescue

The Top of Ohio Pet Shelter took in four of the more than 100 dogs seized from a property in Champaign County late last week.

TOPS acting director Steffen Baldwin said although the local shelter has been operating at near capacity, there were four spaces available to assist with the rescue effort.

On Friday, the Champaign County dog warden and the Urbana rescue group Barely Used Pets along with deputies of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of possible animal cruelty at an 11251 Wren Road, Mechanicsburg, property owned by James W. Pratt Jr. and Keith J. Caserta, the Associated Press reported.

More information on the animals can be found by contacting Tiger Franks of Barely Used Pets, 2790 E. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, online at www.barelyusedpets.com, or by calling her at (937) 869-8090
