Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office have logged two unrelated arrests this week relating to operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs:
• In the first incident about noon Tuesday, deputies received a report of a reckless vehicle driving eastbound on U.S. Route 33 near Russells Point.
The vehicle was located a short time later at the U.S. Route 33 exit ramp at U.S. Route 68, and a traffic stop was initiated.
The driver, Dwight J. Newman, 43, of 633 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, refused to take field sobriety tests or a blood alcohol content test. He was charged with OVI.
• Jane E. Roach, 46, of 874 Crestview Drive, Bellefontaine, also was charged with OVI Wednesday evening following a hit-skip crash in the parking lot of Desperado’s Bar, 6857 Lima St., Huntsville.
Deputies responded to the report of the hit-skip crash about 7:40 p.m. Witnesses reported that a woman left the bar and got into her vehicle. She then reportedly backed into another vehicle and left the scene.
She was located a short time later in her vehicle, and a traffic stop was initiated. Ms. Roach was then placed under arrest.
