Bellefontaine now has a permanent spending plan in place for 2015 after City Council members approved a $24 million budget Tuesday night.
After years of tight budgets, Bellefontaine appears to be on good footing even though revenues remain flat, particularly in the general fund.
Councilman Jerry Pitzer commended the budget leaders for their hard work.
He noted a news report that New Carlisle was cutting sheriff’s patrols and looking at ending the year with less than $200 in reserve.
“Thank you, Jerry,” City Auditor Jack Reser said.
“It’s a real team effort and not just the Finance Committee and the administration,” he continued. “Our department heads and the chiefs work hard to keep spending in check.”
