3 sentenced to prison

The following defendants were before the Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O’Connor on February 23, 2015.

Three area men were sent to prison and three others were ordered to complete community control programs when they appeared before Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor for sentencing on felony crimes.

FERGUSON

FERGUSON

• Ryan Ferguson, 27, of Zanesfield, was sentenced to four years in prison, ordered to pay restitution and three years mandatory post release control for five counts of burglary.

He had previously admitted to kicking in the front doors of several homes in eastern Logan County and stealing televisions and other items to feed a crack cocaine addiction during a series of burglaries that occurred from Nov. 7 through 12. Mr. Ferguson was arrested a few days later by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff's Office.

• Steven Treen, 42, of Kenton, was sentenced to three years in prison and five years mandatory post release control for two counts of gross sexual imposition.

The sex crimes, which occurred in 2012, involved two Bellefontaine girls, who were ages 12 and 14 at the time. He was a labeled a Tier II sex offender and must register his address for the next 25 years.

• Eric Hinton, 50, of Milford Center, was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for vehicular assault, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and operating while under the influence.

Mr. Hinton admitted he was intoxicated when he caused a 5 p.m. Sept. 22 crash in Liberty Township. He went left of center and struck a car driven by Amy Wilkins, 45, of Bellefontaine, who was flown from the scene but recovered from her injuries.

• Douglas Bolling, 28, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility, five years community control and ordered to pay court costs and attorney fees for receiving stolen property.

JONES

• Kenneth Jones, 49, of Zanesfield, was sentenced to 97 days in the Logan County Jail, five years community control, intensive supervision, substance abuse counseling and ordered to pay attorney fees and court costs for gross sexual imposition. He was classified as a Tier I sex offender.

SHULL

SHULL

• Alex Shull, 22, of Russells Point, was sentenced to five years community control, the probation incentive program and ordered to pay court costs for possession of drugs for a July 26 incident in which a deputy of the Logan County Sheriff's Office found him in possession of cocaine while investigating suspicious activity in a vehicle at Captain’s Point, 305 E. Harrison St., Lakeview.

Pleas entered

Judge O’Connor also accepted guilty pleas from three individuals:

• Michael Brown, 38, of Warren: non-support of dependents;

• Mica Hawkins, 44, of Lakeview: four counts of permitting drug abuse and three counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs; and

• Cody Anderson, 28, of Bellefontaine: robbery.

Presentence investigations were ordered and sentencing hearings are scheduled for March 30.
