Councilman John Huffman was elected president pro tempore during a regular Russells Point Village Council meeting Monday following the resignation of councilman Tom LaDow.
Mr. LaDow was elected to council in November 2013 to a term ending Dec. 31, 2017, and he served in the pro tempore position. Council has 30 days to find a replacement. Residents interested in being considered for the position should attend the next council meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 19.
In his annual report to council, Police Chief Joe Freyhof said more than 65 percent of traffic stops in 2014 resulted in warnings as officers continue to educate drivers in lieu of tickets. The department, he said, responded to 5,101 calls for service, representing 85 percent of the total calls in the village, with the average response time is just under five minutes and roughly two minutes for high priority calls.
